How it works

ConvertCabin loads a local copy of FFmpeg — the same engine the big sites run on their servers — compiled to run inside this browser tab. Your media is decoded, converted and saved entirely on your device; nothing is uploaded.

The first conversion downloads the engine (about 25 MB) and your browser caches it, so later conversions start instantly. Because it all runs locally, it stays free, unlimited and private, and works offline once loaded.

Choosing an audio format

MP3 is small and plays everywhere. WAV is uncompressed and lossless. FLAC is lossless but compressed. OGG is a free, efficient format, and M4A/AAC are the compact formats used by Apple and streaming services.

Frequently asked questions

Which audio format should I pick?
MP3 for maximum compatibility and small size, WAV or FLAC when you want lossless quality, and M4A/AAC or OGG for efficient modern playback.
Can I get the audio from a video?
Yes. Drop a video file and choose an audio format — the audio track is extracted and converted.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs on your device with a local copy of FFmpeg; nothing leaves your machine.
